On the heels of the very successful Youth Summit in April 2007, the 14 action plan committees for each of the targeted areas are meeting and strategizing to improve the quality of children’s lives in Broward County. The action plan committees are comprised of interested community members, parents, agency providers, and government organizations to address child abuse, juvenile delinquency, transitional living, youth employment, special needs, and children’s health, education, out of school time, cultural competency, prosperity, behavioral health, school readiness, and agency capacity.
The Strategic Plan Steering Committee is meeting to provide leadership and resources to the action plan committees. The Steering Committee is comprised of chairs, co-chairs, and leaders from each action plan committee and Cindy Arenberg-Seltzer, CEO/President of CSC of Broward County. Debbie Mason of Strategists, Inc. is the consultant who oversees and facilitates the action plan committees. Each leader provides an update on the progress of her/his committee and shares common concerns and resources. For example, each group would like greater public awareness about its issues and to insure quality in all its processes. Each committee is striving to increase community engagement and create real improvement in children’s lives.
